Admissions FAQ
Starting your journey at KCC is a straightforward process designed with your success in mind. We've compiled answers to the most common questions regarding deadlines, health career applications, transfer credits, and placement testing. If you don't find what you're looking for here, our admissions team is always ready to assist you.
You should submit an admissions form at least 3 to 4 months before the semester when you want to attend. If an admissions form is not on file by that time, it may delay your enrollment and limit your course selection.
If you’re coming to KCC for the first time, complete the application.
KCC has an open enrollment policy, so everyone is accepted for general admission.
You are automatically accepted to the college after completing an admissions form. Health career programs have an additional, separate admission process. A letter of acceptance or denial will be sent from the associate dean of the health career division.
If you are not using previous test scores or previous college coursework for placement, you can take KCC’s placement tests. No appointment is required to take the exams. For information, visit the testing page.
High school students who have completed one or more AP exams must have their scores sent directly to KCC before credit can be evaluated and awarded. KCC accepts limited credit hours by exam, so please check with the Office of Admissions and Registration before taking multiple AP exams. Please review Advanced Placement (AP) for a listing of which exams KCC will accept credit for.
The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a national credit-by-examination program which gives high school and college bound students of a wide range of ages the opportunity to earn college credit for what they already know, regardless of how that knowledge was acquired.
Currently, CLEP testing is not available through KCC, but KCC does accept certain CLEP exams as long as scores meet minimum requirements. Information on CLEP exams, testing sites, etc., can be found by going to the College Board website’s CLEP information page. Overall, KCC accepts limited credit hours by exam so please check with the Office of Admissions and Registration before taking multiple CLEP exams. Also, students must have their scores mailed from CLEP directly to KCC before credit can be evaluated and awarded. Please see College Level Examination Program (CLEP) for a listing of which exams KCC will accept credit for.
Tuition is charged based on residency (in-district, out-of-district or out-of-state). KCC requires you to confirm residency. Review information about residency.
You will receive an email with your credentials within 24 hours after you apply to KCC. My KCC (https://my.kcc.edu) allows you to register online, update your personal information, and view your student records.
Please visit the credit for prior learning page for information.
